Food hygiene session

Categories:

As part of the chef badge, the young people must learn the basics of food hygiene.

The young people learnt about the four elements needed for food poisoning bacteria to multiply; food with protein in, moisture, the correct temperature and time.

They also learnt how to effectively clean their hands before handling food.

Below are some pictures of work completed by the cubs:

Note: The second one down is dried foods, this removes the moisture which stops bacteria multiplying! Will need to make this clear next session.

Next week we are not running because the cub leader and other leaders are on a training course, which leaves a team which isn’t large enough to run a session. This means our next cub session will be Friday 2nd February.

Cubs are invited to the Cub Scientist badge day at Victoria Road scout centre in Gateshead, where most groups in the district will join us, on Sunday 4th February, 10:00 – 15:00. Please return the letter sent out yesterday at our next session, it’ll be a really fun event!
