Yesterday at cubs, the young people started work on their Fire Safety and Backwoods cooking badge.
This included a 20 ish minute discussion on smoke alarms and heat sensors, fire extinguishers, and safe camp fires.
The young people then read about the fire triangle, which lists the three things that you need for a fire, oxygen, heat and fuel, and then they made some posters on the topic.
Below we have some examples of posters:

Jack’s poster lists the three things needed for a fire to form.

Last but not least, George’s example is very detailed indeed.

Ellie’s poster talks about the fire triangle, and a little bit about the different types of fire extinguisher.
Next week we’re not on because it’s the holidays. Our next session will be Friday 07/06/2024, where we’ll look at what to do in a fire, and we’ll do a fire drill. The fire service will pay us a visit some time over the next 4 sessions too, so that’ll be exciting!
Remember, cubs will not be on on Friday 14/06/2024 as we’re away at camp. More details to come on that from Susan.
